Etna Rosso DOC

An Etna Rosso without compromises, mirror of the harmonic landscape and of the hard work in the vineyard. Aetneus Aetneus is born in monumental vineyards on the Volcano’s north side: a living natural wine, complex and elegant, with great aging potential.

Varietals::

Nerello Mascalese (80%), Nerello Cappuccio

Training system:

Alberello (bush) , 8.500 plants per hectar

up to 100 years

700 m (2300 ft.) above sea level

Terrain :

Sandy, volcanic, very rich in minerals, with subacid reaction.

Vinification:

The grapes are harvested manually the first half of October and selected, brought to the winery in shallow crates, where they are crushed after destemming about 80% of the clusters. Maceration for 12 days in steel vats. Malolactic fermentation in 500 lt. tonneaux and aging for about 18 months. Refining after bottle for at least 12 months.

Tasting notes::

Eye: ruby red. Nose: ethereal, intense, hints of ripe fruit and tobacco. Palate: elegant, harmonic, considerably long aftertaste, rightly tannic.
